New Direction In Portraits


I still need to have this painting shot and send photos to the Homie Raye6, who is a very talented singing here in our BK art/music scene. It is in part a series of paintings titled "Girl Understood Pt.s 1 & 2". The goal was to begin to understand the female facial structure (especially eyes) as I have difficulty capturing emotion and tone in the eyes and face. So i'm excited to move into more large format portrait work and looking at this piece motivates me to go harder at it.

You know what I find admirable is your ability to reveal what you deem your weakness is as a painter. Mainly because when I look at the piece I see completion and skilled creativity, excellence.
Eyes tell it all so that's a nice focus..
Your humility is cool..
I guess there's always room for growth even when something seems complete.

looks good man... I think teh fauve-ish color scheme is great... I too am looking to this (have looked to this)
